28 May 2025
After working closely with DEFRA on updates to equine passport legislation, we are pleased to confirm that the updates to the SHB(GB) passport and registration structures and issuing procedures have been approved.
The restructure of the SHB(GB) studbook in the light of these legislative changes means that we can continue to register horses with both known and unknown breeding. These changes also mean that in certain cases we can now register equines whose height does not exceed 14.2hh.
As always we continue to encourage the grading of mares and stallions which will further help with your foal registration process. A list of the 2025 grading dates will be announced imminently.
Please contact the SHB(GB) office with any queries at all office@sporthorsegb.co.uk
